Start of Spring Break

Not that spring break means a lot to us right now, but it does mean no preschool and it has been pretty laid back here.
We made slime...

Raegan watched...

We have gone on a few walks and played outside...

Again Raegan watched...

But she doesn't seem to mind sitting back and taking it all in...
Then yesterday as I was working on the computer and holding her, I noticed her getting very limp. I looked down and she was asleep. This little girl can fall asleep almost anywhere.

Really?!

Why do they grow up so fast? I do love the faces Raegan makes and the interaction now, but they just grow too fast!

She is already using her Jump Up! Granted, she is still small for it and I wouldn't dare leave her side, but she props up in there and is really happy. I put her in it for the first time last Saturday (3/10/12).
She loves having a nice view to watch her brother play too.As much as it is sad to see the newborn phase almost over, we are loving having Raegan hit all her milestones. She is so fun and I don't know how we ever got along without her. Her brother loves her so much and very little adjustments needed to be made by him. Harrison is so good with her. When she starts stealing his toys, we might be in trouble, but right now, she is happy just watching him play.

Giddy Up

It's that time of year again! The Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo is in town. And we have been able to go every year, so I wasn't going to use a newborn (is she still a newborn?) as an excuse to stay home. Last year we went during the day and did the live stock show and then did the rodeo and concert for a date night. This year, we did it all in one day and with both the kids. We spent about 8 hours there and tried to do it all.

We went to the petting zoo.Ate some great food.

Visited the livestock and the birthing centers.
Watched the pig races.
Picked a ride at the carnival. Harrison wanted the big slide and was just tall enough to ride with me. He almost didn't make the climb to the top though, but was happy when he did.

We also got a nice view of the whole place on our way into the rodeo. Harrison loved being so high up!
And of course we watched the whole rodeo. Opening parade through the barrel races and set up for the concert.
Then we made it through the first few songs of Blake Shelton. It was a good show, but when Harrison is asking to go home and go to bed...you know it has been a long day.

Besides the school groups who sat all around us and never stopped moving around we had a great time. The kids were great and Harrison loved all of it. Raegan might be the Texan by birth but I think Harrison is developing some cowboy roots as well!

Skin

This little angel loves skin. She struggles to take a bottle, but will if she is really hungry. She refuses a pacifier (we have tried several kinds) and doesn't really have much that she can do to soothe herself except nursing. But recently she has discovered her thumb, fist and fingers. She doesn't care which and will suck on any or all. She will also suck on whoever is holding her's arm. It is pretty funny and although I hoped my children would not be thumb suckers, we are grateful that Raegan has finally found a way to calm and pacify herself. She has turned into a much better sleeper since! We continue to just love our little angel.
And of course her crazy big brother too!

Backyard fun and Playing Around

Harrison decided about a week ago that he wanted to go camping. Well, we modified and did a little backyard "camping" and cook out last Saturday night. We had hot dogs and marshmallows over the charcoals.

Then Jeff set up the tent and Harrison had a blast hanging out inside.
Raegan and I joined in for a little while, but came in when it got a little colder and closer to bed time. Jeff and Harrison stayed out there late and told scary stories and had some good father/son time. (At least I think that is what happened. It was their time!) They came in about 9:30 and had a great time.
Then on Friday was Dr. Suess's birthday. We read a lot of books and Harrison helped me put together a little treat that I found on pinterest. I wish I could blame Harrison for how they look (not nearly as cool as the picture on pinterest), but I take full responsibility for them. Not quite Cat in the Hat Hats, but I tried.
And they still tasted great! No complaints there!
About a week ago, I was up feeding the baby when Harrison woke up and climbed in my bed to wait for me to be done feeding Raegan. Then she was pretty calm so I put her next to Harrison and they looked like they were telling secrets.
I just love watching these two together. Some day they may be plotting against me, but right now they are just so cute. After I took the pictures, I climbed right back in bed with them and we all snuggled. Precious moments for me!
