Grandma and Grandpa Ward's weekend visit

Grandma and Grandpa Ward came to visit us in Houston for the first time last weekend. They were able to stay 3 full days and we packed a lot into their visit (and still managed to relax and have some down time at home! There are a lot of pictures but there were so many things to capture and remember. We all had a great time!

Friday (2/26) we decided to take a trip out to Galveston Island and see the Gulf Coast. It was a little rainy throughout the day but we still thought we could get some great seafood and have a good time at the beach! Harrison took his nap in the car on the way there...it was a short nap but better than nothing!
After a great seafood lunch on the water (we ate at a little place called The Spot-seen in the background), we crossed the street and started walking the beach.
Harrison started on Jeff's shoulders but couldn't resist the water. He kept signing "bath" and was ready to jump right in.
So then someone had to hold his hand or hold him at all times to keep him from jumping right in. He is a fish out of water I guess on land and right at home in the water. Maybe this summer we will try out the water.
Walking with Grandma and Daddy along the beach. If they let go of his hands, it was a quick beeline for the water.
We wanted him to touch the water and let him get close so we all got our feet wet and had a good time.
Looking for shells with Grandma.
Our family picture at the beach. It was a windy day but still so fun.
Enjoying the beach with Grandma and Grandpa.
A nice shot of the waves. Lots of clouds and we did get some rain but still so pretty.
Three generations of Ward men.
Walking to another part of the beach.
Our little angel came down from heaven. Although Jeff was scaring me as he was doing this, I loved how the picture turned out.
We all took turns holding onto Harrison to keep him from making a run for the water.
Grandma and Grandpa strolling the boardwalk...
Grandma was taking her turn when Harrison discovered little holes to help the water drain. He wanted to touch ever hole too!
Grandpa took his turn...
and he and HD checked out the local fisherman.
Watching the waves come over the rocks with mommy.
and really getting down to investigate these holes. He was soaking wet but loving every minute.
Back at the house we relaxed and played. Grandpa was playing with Harrison
and he and Daddy worked on helping Harrison improve his bowling skills. They still need some serious work though.
On Saturday (2/27) we decided to head downtown. It was the start of the rodeo and the parade was going on so we couldn't get close to the city center. We drove around a little bit and then found a park where we could walk, play and watch the horses from the parade go by.
I love the skyline in the background.
Grandma helping Harrison bounce.
Waving to the horses and people going by.
Harrison liked the horses but we weren't close enough to hold his attention for very long.
On Sunday (2/28) we had church in the morning and decided to stay home and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. After a nice long nap for Harrison and some relaxing time for the adults, we were out blowing bubbles. By we I should say Grandma. She was so vigilant in blowing all the bubbles Harrison wanted. She bought a little wand and went through all the bubbles plus some in the weekend they were here. Harrison loved every minute and even chased some down to pop.
Then he discovered Grandpa's shoes. Harrison has always had a thing for shoes and painted toenails but I have never seen him so excited about 1 pair of shoes. He was putting them on and taking them off all by himself. The part that made us laugh the most was that he could do laps around the house with them on and he would have one on right and the other backwards. It was pretty entertaining for him and for us.

We loved having Grandma and Grandpa Ward come and visit. We managed to play some games in the evening and really enjoyed visiting with them. It made us wish we were closer to family, but really enjoy the time that we have with them!
