Just playing around

Nothing too exciting going on at our house, but these kids playing.
Raegan is enjoying tummy time more now but still doesn't last longer then about 15 minutes.
Harrison is as busy as ever. He loves his race cars, trains and his new found favorite...tools. He loves to play construction site. Especially when Daddy can play with him!
These two love to be together. Harrison is always telling me Raegan needs her big brother. Not sure about that all the time, but she does love to be by him most of the time.
Cute little bonnet.
And every now and then the stars align at our house and I see this during the same time:
Then I am able to take a nap or get some "me" time.

Home Improvments

Well, after thinking we might be moving and then not knowing what is going on for well over a year now, we finally bit the bullet and redid some rooms in our house. The biggest one was our office. Jeff spends a lot of time in here working from home so it needed some changes.

Before:

After: (I think he likes his new chair the best. The other chair is pretty bad to sit in all day!)

The toy room also needed to be rearranged or something. We have a lot more toys now then when we first got here so we needed to make room for all the toys and still have it looking nice.

And Harrison's room. We kept him in a toddler bed thinking that if we were moving, we would buy him a bed then. Well, months went by and I was getting worried he was going to break the sides of his bed and then we would not have a crib for Raegan (she is in a cradle right now but will be in the crib when she is sleeping through the night). So, we got Harrison a big bed (for company too) and some book shelves for him. He loves his new room and anyone who comes to visit gets a tour!

We are happy with the changes and now I am moving on to the littler things. Curtains are next on the list...

Setting (and Following through on) Goals

When I got put on bed rest back in October, I was heart broken. I worked out my whole pregnancy with Harrison and really think that helped my recovery. Well, not an option with Raegan, so I signed up for a 5k race 2 months after she was born.
Then she ended up being a little more high maintenance then her brother. Jeff and I had planned on running the race together and about 2 weeks ago decided that one of us would have to stay with the kids. She doesn't take a bottle well and if she ended up screaming the whole time, I wanted it to be one of us. So, taking the easy road, I told Jeff (who had trained much more then me) to run the race. I would bring the kids and we would see him at the finish. Being the wonderful husband that he is, did not let me quit. He knew my goal was to complete this race and so he pushed me to do it. I had not trained much (I have been running a couple of miles a week and never more then 2 miles at a time) but thought I could at least run/walk the race so off I set.
Well, not only did I finish, but I ran the whole time. I finished in 35:41. I know it was only a 5k but I set the goal and I accomplished it.
And my kids were there to meet me at the finish. I kept hearing Harrison's little voice saying "Go Mommy!" and I kept on running.

I love that my family is always there for me and encouraging me to do great!

2 months

I can't believe Raegan is already 2 months old. Why doesn't pregnancy go this fast! She is growing and getting stronger and more alert everyday. I take her to the Dr. next week so we will see what her stats are!
Some other things about Raegan though...
*She is settling into a routine. Usually dozing during the morning and a good nap in the afternoon.
*She will sometimes sleep through the night. Last night it was 9-6:30, but most nights she goes down about 9 or 10 and is up around 3 for a feeding and then back asleep until around 7.
*She hates a pacifier! She is starting to find her fist or thumb.
*She refused the bottle so we worked on that and now she will take it most of the time as long as it is warmed up and there is a fast flow nipple on the bottle. (Our little princess!)
*She loves to have people looking at, talking to and/or making faces at her.
*She is tolerant of tummy time in short spurts and never after a feeding. (See below)
*She spits up a lot! Usually we keep her upright for 30 minutes after a feeding so she doesn't spit up.
*She loves to bury her head into everything...a person, a blanket, the floor. It worries me to see her in her bed with a blanket on her face, but it is about the only thing to calm her down sometimes.
*She loves her big brother and puts up with a lot from him.
*She smiles a lot and has been cooing too. Harrison likes her squeaking the best!

We can't get enough of this little girl, although she does have her moments. Last night I was at scouts and left the kids with Jeff. I had a bottle and it was warming when I left. I was gone an hour and a half and she screamed for almost all of that. Poor Jeff and Harrison! Jeff was able to get this picture of Harrison trying to comfort her.
Love you Raegan and can't wait to watch you grow more this month!

Deana Comes to Houston

My sister, Deana, came to visit us from DC for the long weekend. We loved having her here and had a great time. The weather wasn't great, but we found things to do.
We took her bowling

We went to the zoo

And we went to the park when we finally got a sunny, warm day.

The rest of the time we stayed home, watched movies and played. The game of the weekend was Just Dance 3. We bought it for Kinect and had a great time. Harrison even played and did pretty well. (No pictures of Just Dance...we were all too busy dancing!)
Raegan showed off her smiles and of course did what she does best...sleep!

We had a great time and hope to see Deana again soon! Love you Deana!

Valentines Day

Valentines Day was a busy day. We started by running around so we could be ready for Preschool in the morning. I managed to get a picture of Raegan ready to go while Harrison was finishing breakfast.
Then we had a party to go to. Harrison had a great time making valentines and playing with friends. We even had heart shaped sandwiches. (Sorry no pictures-this taking 2 kids out thing is still new to me!)

Jeff got me flowers. Love them and they all opened up! I just threw them away yesterday and it made me so sad!
And we did an outfit change...out of necessity. This little girl goes through at least 2 outfits a day.
I love this tutu! It is her first. Not sure she was in love with it, but I'm sure she will love them when she can twirl.
Happy Valentines Day!

Blog Binge

It seems like I have a few days where life slows down and then weeks where it seems to never stop. Finally, I have some time to break from life to talk about life. So, sorry there are a bunch of posts all in a row!

The last few weeks have been pretty low key though. We have enjoyed some down time while settling into our new normal. We are back in the swing of things and even get out of the house every now and then. Last Friday I packed up both kids, made a trip to the post office and then to the park (an indoor one) for a while. I was pretty proud of myself! We all left the house happy and came home happy!

Here are just some random pictures from the last couple of weeks.
A slow, quiet start to the morning. I don't always love having both of my kids in my bed, but this morning they were both happy and snuggly! I loved it!
Tummy Time.

It doesn't last long, but then we spend some time on our back too.
And Harrison loves to join Raegan for a while. She loves having her big brother around.

Making faces.

Sleepy baby.

So, recently nap time with Harrison has become a sort of nightmare. Jeff suggested turning it into rest time where he picks a toy (or 2) and then plays quietly in his room until we come get him. Usually it lasts about 2 hours and it is still a nice break for us and Harrison sleeps better at night too. On a rare day he will still fall asleep. On this day it was in his beanbag. Another day he was on the floor.
My little handy man.
Harrison built his own fort with his blankets between our couch and chair. Then he invited Raegan in. I was a little scared for her life, but someday she probably won't be allowed in his forts anymore, so I hope she enjoyed it.
Raegan is developing more of a personality every day. She seems to have more nap times and awake times now. She is such a joy and although we don't always know what to do when she crys (she isn't a pacifier kid or a thumb sucker), we love her to pieces and love the smiles we get most of the time!

This weekend we made milk shakes too. I don't know if we have ever done this with Harrison, but he loved it and managed to eat more then he wore!
