We spent Saturday at the Johnson Space Center. I have been once, but it was fun to go with Jeff, Dillan, Richie and Harrison. First we took the tram ride over to the actual NASA campus where they do Astronaut training.
He always loves to ride when there is no carseat involved.
Harrison enjoyed all of the different training models. These are all parts of the International Space Center.
Loves the space ships.
Climbing a Jet Engine. They use 5-6 of these to get a shuttle up into space!
At the base of a rocket.
This thing was huge! It is Saturn V and was never used in an Apollo mission, because money ran out, but is made to be in space!
Climbing inside a Jet Engine (you can see that Harrison wore his Buzz shirt... we couldn't go see space ships without Buzz!)
We had to send in a rescue mission. Otherwise, I don't think he was ever coming out!
Saturn V
Once back at the Space Center, Harrison loved the 4+ story play area. This thing was a ball launcher and he loved filling it up and watching the balls fly!
Then we each had a turn taking the escape shoot out of the shuttle.
Harrison took several turns.
"Finally a shuttle I'm allowed to climb on!" He would not sit on it either until he pointed out every part that it had (i.e. nose, windows, wings, fire, wheels). It was cool to see how much he knows.
I think we might have a future astronaut on our hands!
Testing out a simulator. It amazes me how good he is at the controls.
Inside a space shuttle.
We were there from open at 10 until about 3. We had a great time and saw a lot of stuff. It was exhausting though! I love that he fell asleep with his hands behind his head! What a fun day we had. It was awesome watching Harrison run from thing to thing and learn so much. He now knows what an astronaut is, that space shuttles have fire and I'm sure much more. I love when trips are fun and educational!
