Good weather and Good friends

FINALLY...it is cooling off. This week we had record heat over 90 degrees! Crazy so finally on Thursday and Friday, we saw some relief. I took that opportunity and we went to the park. Harrison loves to "wing" and always wants to go faster. Somehow, this time we got in the swing sideways, which added even more fun!
I just love that pushing him on the swing can make him so happy!
Then I brought his bike to get some good riding time, but he just wanted to walk and see everything. Here he is playing chicken with the squirrel. All you can see is the tail at this point. The squirrel was burying something when we came so he didn't just want to leave. Harrison waited about 5 minutes and they just kept circling until he lost interest and decided the squirrel did not want to play with him.
Then we saw this lovely sign. They are actually quite common in the ponds down here (the signs are but I have yet to see an alligator!). You would think that would keep us away...
But where there is a sign there must be a crocodile (he can't read and the sign looks like a crocodile!). We walked almost the whole length of the pond looking for one. No luck! Harrison kept going "snap, snap, snap" trying to get them to come. He knew to stay on the sidewalk luckily! It was a nice walk, but he was pretty bummed he didn't find any crocodiles!
Then on Friday afternoon, we got to go to the park with some good friends of ours who just moved from Houston. Harrison loves "Rique"! He just follows him around and wants to be a big boy just like him! And I love "Rique's" mom so we got to sit, chat and enjoy the weather while the boys played at the park!

Time to go. I told Harrison he could hold my hand or "Rique's" through the parking lot and guess who he wanted!? There is nothing in the world like good friends!

Pumpkin Makeovers

We took our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch and had a great time turning them into our festive decorations. Harrison's medium was markers for the first pumpkin...
And a little carving tool (with some help) for his second pumpkin...
Jeff used the tool as well along with a knife...
And I wanted to carve as well, but I guess I picked a pumpkin/gourd mix that was too tough to cut, so my medium became markers.
Here is my finished product...
Jeff's...
And of course, Harrison's...

Now I just need to get a picture of them outside!

The Beginning of Halloween Festivities

I LOVE holidays! I always have and I love the excuse to decorate, dress with themes and I loved that with teaching! The kids love the holidays and it is like being a kid again. Harrison is getting older and more into the holidays now. We went to a Halloween party at a friends house last weekend. We all had a great time and Harrison got to wear his costume for the first time! It is so hot here though (I know bad planning!) so he didn't last very long in the whole costume. But he loves his dragon costume and loves to "roar" at people in it!
The lone picture before leaving for the party. I went dressed as his dragon trainer so maybe we can get pictures later when Harrison will cooperate!
Then our fun library time involved wearing your costume this week! He had a great time seeing all the other kids and loved all the costumes. He got to listen to a pumpkin book.

And during the songs, he sings and laughs. I know the shot is not the best angle, but I was holding him and just tried to get the laugh. He loves songs with actions!
We did a pumpkin art project and Harrison actually did really well.
Hanging out with his favorite superhero!

We are excited for the many activities still ahead and have really enjoyed everything so far...if we could just get it too cool off a little :)

"Punkin Patch"!

Well, last year was a weird one with us moving so we didn't make it to a pumpkin patch. They are hard to find here in TX, so this year we found a local church that brings pumpkins in. They have a great set up and Harrison had a great time! Before going, we were looking at his first pumpkin patch visit (he was 2 weeks old!). He loved it and was so excited.
When we got there, he was off and running. He found a little pumpkin right away and had it with him the rest of the time.
He tried trading in for some bigger ones, but they were too heavy! They had such a good variety of pumpkins though, it was great!

Fun scare crows...giving high fives.
We even got to be mummies!

Someone had to be the scary looking mummy right?

He loves the "Itsy, bitsy spider" and they seem to be every where at Halloween! This was the entrance to a little maze that he chased Jeff through.
Harrison got a ride while we picked out our pumpkins.

Showing off his carving pumpkin.
We tried to get a good family shot, but someone was too interested in the pumpkins. I am finding it harder to just get Harrison to smile by asking. He can be very stubborn, so we do our best I guess!
Happy Halloween and fall season to all!
FYI...it was close to 90 degrees while we were there! Crazy that on Oct. 26 it is still SOOO hot!
I'm ready for the fall weather!

Like Father, Like Son!

So I was recently looking through some old pictures and stumbled across these pictures of Jeff as a little boy. I'm not sure exactly when they were taken, but I figured he had to be right around 2. So, when I did Harrison's pictures, I tried to get a similar shot. I wasn't sure my amateur camera skills could master the task of a studio, so I took Harrison into a studio, brought my pictures and had them duplicate the shot.

Although Harrison I know has parts of me...he definitely looks A LOT like his Dad.

A new chair and Movie night

Well, we have decided to graduate from the full high chair to a booster. I am not a fan of cleaning the chair after each meal and the other night Jeff said that maybe he was ready to eat at the table. Great idea! So, the next day, I found a nice little booster and we haven't looked back. The floor and table are much messier after meals, but there is no chair to wipe down and I already wipe the table and sweep so we love it.
Sometimes a boy just wants to eat and enjoy his new chair without posing for pictures!
The other night as we were getting Harrison ready for bed and I was finishing the laundry-yes, sometimes it does take all day!-he thought it would be fun to have a little bed! He had his milk, grabbed a pillow from the couch and one of Daddy's shirts for a blanket. I think he would have really slept in there if we let him, but of course, we had to put him to bed.
So the next night, we got out the laundry basket again, Harrison grabbed his blanket and enjoyed some popcorn while watching a show with us. He loves his little "bed"!

2 year pictures

So, I love to take pictures of Harrison. He used to be so easy and I wish I took more pictures then. We had perfect weather so we went to a local botanical garden and despite me thinking it was a disaster, we got a lot of great shots. Thank you so much to my patient husband who kept me going despite a wet, sometimes crying and ever moving boy who did not want to smile. You will notice he is almost never looking at me in any of these pictures.
This was how the day started...
But we ended on a good note. You will notice the tear and the sucker!
Believe it or not, I got about 50 shots that I liked. I picked some of my favorites here (I didn't want to be uploading all night!) I did put them all up on Facebook though!
Here are some of my favorites...now to just pick out a few to frame! I wish I had more frames and more room for more pictures!

Always playing in the water!

The tough guy walk.
He doesn't look much like me but he will stand like me! Jeff laughed at this shot and figured Harrison was probably telling someone what to do! I guess I do that?! ;)
This face is classic Harrison!
Bashful.

I love this boy!

He finally looked at me!
Thinking about something deep, I'm sure!
I love this face!
Hide and Seek!
Whenever he has had enough...he reaches for you and says "need you"!

Love the background, wish he would have smiled!
Pouting or thinking?
Peek a boo!
I see you!

Walking away.

The face and real smile. Can you guess which is which?
Some of the many faces of Harrison.
